I want my photography brief
to be based around the area of ‘marketing’ I feel like this is a broad brief which
would enable me to be able to widely explore the topic and produce a vast
variation of different photographs. A simple definition of marketing is ‘The
action or business of promoting and selling a product or service’, so for my
photography project I could use the approach that I am taking photographs on
behalf of a company thus promoting them for the ‘sale’. Photography is known to
be a powerful medium that can be used as highly effective advertising to brand
a message in all marketing areas for example print, web and video, throughout
my project I could explore all of these but obviously focusing on the
photography aspects.
My initial ideas for my project so far include
looking into how things are over promoted to appear better than what they are,
I could do this by looking into fast food chains such as McDonald's where the
photos of the food always looks much more appealing. This idea could be shown
effectively in contrasting pictures like a before and after shot, this picture
inspired me for that idea.
I also would like to look into
tourism photography and take photographs to promote the place thus making
people want to go there, I will start this as when I go on holiday to Africa as
I feel I should take the opportunity to photograph as different location. Here are some examples of the tourist pictures
that I want to shoot (actually of the place I’m going to) these will mostly be
landscape ones to show the surroundings which hopefully will inspire others to
go there.
Obviously there are many other areas I can
look into also like fashion marketing, real estate etc.
